Student Loan compulsory course fees
If you need help to pay your compulsory course fees, you may be able to get a Student Loan, but you'll need to pay it back.
Who can get it
To get a Student Loan for compulsory course fees, you need to meet the criteria for a Student Loan.
If you're studying part-time for less than 32 weeks, your course needs to have at least 0.25 EFTS.
What you can get
Your education provider will tell us how much your compulsory course fees are.
If you're on a pilot training course as a fixed wing or helicopter student, the amount of compulsory course fees you get depends on how many EFTS your course is. The maximum you can get is $35,000 per 1 EFTS (about 120 points or credits).
Paying some of the fees another way
If some of your fees are paid another way (eg, with your own money or a scholarship), we can pay the rest to your education provider.
You need to make sure that this portion of the fees is paid first, before the loan is approved. If you don't, we'll pay the full amount to your education provider. You'll then need to talk to your education provider about this and they may need to refund any overpayment back to us.
How to apply
Apply online for a Student Loan (if you haven't already) and answer 'Yes' when we ask if you want your fees paid.
If you've already applied for a Student Loan, email us with 'Student Loan - Fees' as your topic, or call us and we'll update this for you.
Payments
We pay your compulsory course fees directly to your education provider.
