Your payment card needs a PIN
20 September 2024.
From 23 September you must have set a personalised PIN on your payment card before you can use it. It's quick and easy to set your PIN online, and you can reset it later if you forget it.
Setting a personalised PIN keeps the money on your card safe and secure. People have been able to add a PIN since 28 July this year.
From 23 September this is required for all payment cards. Using the last 4-digits on your card as the PIN will no longer work.
If you have more than one card, set a PIN on each card.
How to set your PIN
- Log in to MyStudyLink.
- Go to 'My payment cards'.
- Select the card you want to add a PIN for.
- Enter a 4-digit PIN, and re-enter it to confirm.
- Done! Your PIN is now ready to go.
If you can't use MyStudyLink to set your PIN, then call us and say "set my card PIN".
Reset your PIN
You can reset your PIN by following the same steps above.
Locked card
The card will lock if you enter an incorrect PIN 5 times. You can unlock it by resetting your PIN, or wait until the next day – the card will unlock automatically at midnight.
How to use your PIN
When you're using your card to pay, swipe it through the EFTPOS machine, select CHQ, and enter your personalised PIN.
You also need to sign the receipt – the shop staff will check this matches your signature on the back of the card.
