You can't miss it
17 December 2021.
If you missed it, you can still apply, but you might not have everything sorted in time for the start of your course.
Not sure what your plans are yet? Don’t worry, you can still apply. If things change you can update your application details or withdraw your application at any time.
Don’t wait, apply for your 2022 Student Allowances and Loan today.
Step 1 - Apply for 2022
First time students
Before you apply for your Student Loan or Allowance, you should set up a RealMe verified identify. It’ll mean you won't need to send us evidence of your identity to support your application.
If you're a new student, you may be able to get fees-free. You'll most likely qualify if you're finishing secondary school this year.
If you qualify, you may not need a Student Loan for your course fees.
You'll still need to apply for a Student Loan if you want course-related costs or living costs.
How to apply
You can apply for your Student Loan and/or Student Allowance online.
Returning students - Complete a returning application
If you've applied in the last 12 months, you can log in to MyStudyLink and use the Returning Application.
Your application will be pre-filled from last time. All you need to do is check and update your information - it'll take less than 5 minutes.
If your study circumstances have changed, it's best to use the eligibility test before applying so you can find out what you may be able to get. You can then carry on and apply at the end of the eligibility test if you want to.
If you're doing postgraduate study, you may not be able to get a Student Allowance, but we may be able to help in other ways. The best way to find out what help we can provide is to use the Eligibility Test. You can then carry on and apply at the end of the eligibility test if you want to.
Remember there's a limit to how long you can get a Student Allowance for in your lifetime and how many Student Loans you can get in your lifetime. You can check how much you have used in MyStudyLink.
Step 2 - Send us your documents
We'll write to you to let you know what happens next.
If you need to send us supporting documents, you can do this online using Connect.
It's important to get everything to us straight away so we can carry on processing your application.
